We travel all over the Madison area to install gutters, but once in a while we get to work right in our own neighborhood. This house, just seconds from our own, needed some new gutters and we were more than happy to help. We installed new 5” k-style gutter all around the home and upgraded the downspouts to larger 3”x 4” for better drainage. The home owner was also interested in more protection from falling leaves so we installed leaf screens on all of the gutters as well.
5” K Style in McFarland

•April 29, 2011 • Leave a CommentWe were given the opportunity to replace old galvanized gutters with new 6″ copper half round gutter. The system that we used to install these new copper gutters was a wraparound roof strap method, which works very well when decorative crown molding prevents the use of fascia mount brackets. Complementing the copper half round gutter were beautiful corrugated copper downspouts. We also set up a rain barrel for Ms. Yasko, who is an awesome gardener.
p.s. thanks Carol for the espresso!
5” K Style in Indian Trail
•April 14, 2011 • Leave a CommentOn the west side of Madison, off of University Ave. we installed new 5″ k style gutter. The homeowner recently had a new roof and fascia wrap put onto his house. In the rear of the home we had to split the gutter into two sections because of the way his dish was positioned. this house also needed a splash block installed in the front of the house, so we fabricated a new template that was more sturdy and appealing to the eye.
Happy 2011 Gutter Season!
•March 2, 2011 • Leave a CommentWinter is usually our off season, but we managed to stay very busy this year after we experienced an unfortunate house fire on New Year’s Eve. Everyone (people and pets
) made it out safely, but the house itself wasn’t so lucky. The upside of the situation is that we got to hire The Guttersmiths to rebuild the house and we were able to stay occupied. The last two months have flown by!
Now it’s March! Spring is creeping up on us, the days are getting warmer, the sun is shining and Guttersmiths are ready to start another season of beautifying your homes! We are extremely proud to say that The Guttersmiths were the recipient of two Angie’s List awards in 2010. We won the Super Service Award for Gutter Repair and Replacement, as well as the Super Service Award for Gutter Cleaning. Thank you to all of our Madison area customers who gave us such great reviews! We truly appreciate the opportunity you gave us to work on your homes! In other exciting news, we have a couple new additions to the Guttersmiths team. We hired two new guys over the winter to help rebuild the house and they have proven to be a great asset to our crew.
All in all, everyone on Team Guttersmiths is very enthusiastic about the 2011 season!
Arboretum Cohousing Leaf Screens
•October 29, 2010 • Leave a CommentArboretum Cohousing hired Guttersmiths to install leaf screens around their entire group of buildings. This was the largest leaf screen job that I’ve taken on to date. They weighed the costs of having the gutters cleaned every year against the cost of screens, and decided on the screens. I try to keep the cost of leaf screens within reason because, frankly, none of the brands are 100%. Remember when choosing screens that there is not necessarily a correlation between price and quality. I would stay away from the least expensive (Home Depot screens) and the more pricey brands.
West Madison Half Round
•October 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentThis installation on Van Buren Street on the near west side of Madison consisted of new gutters all the way around the home. The homeowner chose a 6″ half round gutter profile formed from white aluminum material. The hangers we used were #10 Bergers, spaced closer than average to combat any ice damming issues. We also installed a Rain Reserve rain barrel kit and a downspout tray along the roof covering the front porch. Thank you Monte at Christensen Construction for subcontracting Guttersmiths for this gutter job!
